Lady Tigers stay unbeaten in area

The Thomasville High School Lady Tigers improved their season mark to 14 - 5 and their area record to 4 - 0 this past week after finishing the week 2 - 1. The week didn't start too well for the Thomasville Ladies as they opened up with a 3 - 2 road loss to Southern Choctaw on Monday, April 7. They rebounded well however defeating the Lady Tigers of Monroe County High School 7 - 3 in Monroeville on Tuesday, April 8, and the Lady Bulldogs of Sweet Water High School 8 - 2 at home on Thursday, April 10.

In the loss to the Southern Choctaw Lady Indians the Lady Tigers out hit their hosts 7 - 4 but couldn't seem to get the key hit when they needed it. Lindsey Overstreet led the offensive charge for Thomasville with three hits followed by Cassie Flint with two and Savannah Smith and Natalie Washington with one apiece. On the mound Lindsey Overstreet was tagged with the loss dropping her season mark to 2 - 1. In six innings she allowed three unearned runs on four hits and four walks while striking out seven.

On Tuesday, Savannah Smith improved her season record to 8 - 3 as she one hit the Monroe County Lady Tigers in a key area match-up. Besides only giving up the one hit, Smith allowed three runs in the game, two of which were unearned, while striking out 10 in seven innings. At the plate the Thomasville Ladies connected on nine hits led by Adreanne Boyette, Savannah Smith and Nicole Washington with two apiece. Joining them with one hit each were; Lindsey Overstreet, Brianna Penn, and Rachel Wright. In the extra-base hit category Washington blasted a homerun while Penn had a double. Washington was also the RBI leader with three followed by Boyette, Taylor Gilchrist, and Wright with one.

In Thursday's victory over Sweet Water, Rachel Norris picked up the win on the mound to improve her season mark to 4 - 1. In seven innings of work she allowed two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out eight. On offense Adreanne Boyette, Taylor Gilchrist, Rachel Norris, Andrianna Penn, and Nicole Washington all had one hit apiece to lead the charge. Washington had the only extrabase hit with a double. In the RBI category Norris had two followed by Gilchrist and Penn with one.

After their makeup game with the Lady Tigers of Choctaw County High School in Thomasville on Friday, April 11, was cancelled due the weather, the Thomasville Ladies were not scheduled to be in action again until Monday, April 21, when they travel to Butler for a JV/Varsity doubleheader with Choctaw County.
