Girls JV picks up two wins

The Thomasville High School Lady Tiger junior varsity softball team picked up wins over the Monroe County Lady Tiger JV and the Sweet Water Lady Bulldog JV this past week to improve their season mark to 9 - 6 - 1. Their first win came on the road Tuesday, April 8, when they blasted Monroe County 18 - 1. Win number two came at home on Thursday, April 10 when they downed Sweet Water 8 - 3.

In Tuesday's victory Tiffany Baugh improved her season mark to 2 - 3 as she posted the win on the mound. In three innings she allowed one unearned run on no hits and three walks while striking out eight. On offense the Thomasville Ladies took advantage of fourteen walks, two hit batsmen and six timely hits to score their 18 runs. Tiffany Drinkard led the charge with two hits followed by Tiffany Baugh, JuQuesha Evans, Sheyenne Myers, and Savanna Sheppard with one hit. In the RBI area Baugh had two while Drinkard and Sheppard had one apiece.

Things were a little tighter on Thursday, but the Lady Tiger offense out hit their opponents 8 - 5 to pick up the win. Eight different players got in on the act picking up one hit each. Included in that group were; JuQuesha Evans, Kaley McManus, Sheyenne Myers, Mary Beth Nichols, Psietta Rodgers, Savanna Sheppard, Shan Washington, and Alexis Watters. In the extra-base hit category Myers and Sheppard led the way, each with a triple while McManus and Watters both had doubles. Sheppard was the RBI leader with two followed by McManus and Washington with one apiece. On the mound Tiffany Drinkard picked up the win bringing her season mark to 6 - 2. In five innings she allowed three runs on five hits, four walks, and one hit batsman while striking out nine.

After their make up game with Choctaw County at home on Friday, April 11 was cancelled due to weather, the Lady Tiger JV wasn't scheduled to play again until Monday, April 21 when they travel to Butler for a match-up with the Choctaw County Lady Tigers.
