Southern hospitality still lives in Thomasville
OUR VIEW
Thomasville rolled out the red carpet for visiting and presumptive Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain Monday. The senator got quite a warm welcome and it was noted in a number of national news stories covering his trip through the Black Belt.

From all appearances, Thomasville made a very favorable impression on the Senator, his staff and the members of the press who covered the trip.

What does it mean for Thomasville in the grand scheme of things? Maybe nothing, maybe something, we may never truly know.

But we do know that Mayor Sheldon Day had a full day to sell Thomasville and this region to the Senator, and representatives from the Black Belt Action Commission had the same opportunity. That in itself can't be bad.

We also know that if the Democratic candidates wish to visit Thomasville, they'll likely get the same treatment, and the invitation is open.

If nothing else, it shows that good old southern hospitality is still alive and well.
