National Prayer Day

"Prayer: America's Shield and Defense" is the theme for the 50th annual nation-wide observance of National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 1. Local observance in the Camden - Wilcox are will be held at 12 noon, Thursday at the Camden United Methodist Church, 127 Broad Street in Camden. Speakers will be Pastor Trini Moye, minister of the St. Francis Baptist Church in Camden. Lunch will be provided on a donation-only basis. A number of local pastors will participate.

Fish fry, yard sale

Kiel Memorial Temple Church of God in Christ will host a fish fry and yard sale Saturday, May 3, beginning at 9 a.m., at the four-way stop at 154 and Tallahatta in Thomasville. Call-ins welcome. Will deliver. Call 334- 830-7433, 334-830-7438, 334-830-9336 or 334-830- 0414.

Love Day 2008

Thomasville Church of God in Christ, 1200 Church Drive in Thomasville, will host a two-day Love Day 2008 program honoring Jimmy and Frankie Allen. The Sermon 'N Song Program will be held at 6 p.m., Saturday, May 3. The Love Day celebration will climax at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 4. Guest speaker will be Elder Reginald Roberts, pastor of Bible Way Church of God In Christ Worship Center, Inc. in Huntsville.

Cemetery workday

Saturday, May 3, will be cemetery workday at the Cobb-Wilson Cemetery located on the Annie Wilson place.

Spring revival

Bashan Baptist Church will host its spring revival Sunday, May 4 through Tuesday May 6 with guest speaker Bro. Chris Baker, associational missionary for Clarke County. Sunday service will begin at 11 a.m. and will be immediately followed by a covered dish dinner on the grounds. After everyone has finished eating an afternoon preaching service will be held instead of night services. Weeknight services will begin at 7 p.m.

135th anniversary

New Greater First Baptist Church of Thomasville will celebrate its 135th church anniversary at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 4. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Anthony Jelks of Lively Hope Baptist Church in Birmingham. Church pastor, the Rev. Carlton L. Hogue invites everyone to join in the celebration.

Youth fun day

A youth health walk-a-thon will be held from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., May 17 at Thomasville High School. The event, sponsored by the youth department of Walnut Grove Community Worship Center in Morvin, will continue at the church worship center with youth fun day including a free health screening.
