Make Jesus your shepherd
Spiritual Reflections
Pat Ozment Jr. IMB Missionary to Ghana
"The Horse Whisperer," is about a man who had a gift with horses. We don't have a horse whisperer here, but we have someone whose fame is rapidly spreading as a worker of magic with other animals.

During the dry season here, the sheep and goats, free-range in order to find enough food to stay alive. Their owners don't feed them, they simply turn them out to trespass on other people's property, to eat anything that might provide nourishment, or simply fill their empty bellies.

Peggy has tried to brighten our compound with a few flowers, and the livestock love her for it. The feeling isn't mutual.

Other members of our compound plant gardens, to raise food for their families, and they don't care for the sheep and goats either.

Last year, while Princess was still a puppy, Peggy would chase the sheep, and goats out of the compound. Princess thought it was fun, and she would help Peggy run the unwanted guests out. Peggy always clapped her hands as the two of them ran.

Later there was a new puppy added to the compound family, she started following Peggy too. Then one day Peggy did not run because of a bum knee, she just clapped her hands, and the dogs, now three in number did the rest, running the sheep through the gate, and out into the street.

Now we all stop what we are doing, and watch the show when Peggy claps her hands.

About a month ago we noticed something truly amazing. Peggy clapped her hands, and at the sound of her clapping the sheep ran through the gate before the dogs could even react. We thought Peggy was a dog trainer, but it turns out she also trains sheep and goats.

Be sure to watch for "The Sheep Clapper" coming to a theater near you.

The sheep here have no shepherd. In the Bible sinners are compared to sheep, without a shepherd, who have gone astray. God had pity on us, and sent His Son Jesus, the "Good Shepherd" to save us from sin, so we say, "The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want."

Make Jesus your shepherd, and I'll see you in church.
