The Thomasville Middle School Tigers improved their season record to 3 - 2 this past Monday, September 29, when they traveled to Demopolis and defeated the DMS Tigers 20 - 19. With the win they made it a clean sweep over DMS having defeated them at home in a previous meeting.

In the game the TMS Tigers got on the score board first when Tevin Watters returned the opening kickoff of the game 80 yards for a touchdown. The two point conversion attempt failed but TMS led 6 - 0 with 7:48 remaining in the first quarter.

The DMS Tigers answered the Thomasville score a couple of minutes later when they scored on a nine yard pass play. Their extra-point was good and they had taken a 7 - 6 lead with 5:33 to play in the first quarter.

It appeared the home standing DMS Tigers were on the move again late in the period but defensive back Tyler Dement's interception put a stop to the drive and gave the TMS offense the ball again at their 37 yard line with 1:37 remaining in the opening stanza.

From there the Thomasville offense drove 63 yards for their second score of the game. Tevin Watters culminated the drive when he darted in from nine yards out with 7:55 to play in the second quarter. Tyrees Harris added the two point conversion and TMS led 14 - 7.

With time winding down late in the period the DMS defense came up big intercepting a Thomasville pass and returning it to the Thomasville 10 yard line. From there they knocked it in, scoring on a one yard run with :54 remaining before halftime. Their two point conversion attempt was thwarted by a Logan Bishop interception in the endzone leaving TMS on top 14 - 13 as the first half came to a close.

In the third quarter TMS got their third score of the evening when Tevin Watters scampered 48 yards to pay dirt with 1:03 remaining in the period. The two point conversion attempt failed but TMS was on top 20 - 13.

Demopolis closed the gap at the 5:55 mark of the fourth quarter when they scored on a 20 yard pass play. Their two point conversion that would have tied the game came up short leaving TMS with a 20 - 19 lead that would ultimately become the final.

Up next, the TMS Tigers were scheduled to travel to Grove Hill on Monday, October 6, to take on the Wilson Hall Middle School Bulldogs in the first game of a middle school / junior varsity double header.
