Jacobs, Porter plans told
Clay Porter and Betsy Jacobs Mr. and Mrs. Michael J. Jacobs of Thomasville announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Catherine Elizabeth "Betsy" Jacobs to Adam Clayton "Clay" Porter, son of Curt and Cynthia Porter of Birmingham and Mary Ann Williams of Birmingham.
The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Mary Kirkland of Rock Hill, S.C. and late William J. Kirkland and the late Bobby Jacobs and the late Lois Jacobs of Sylva, N.C.
She is a 2003 graduate of Thomasville High School and graduated in 2007 from the University of West Alabama with a bachelor of science degree in early childhood and elementary education. While in college she was vice president of Alpha Sigma Alpha, was a member of Blue Key Phi Kappa phi, Kappa Delta Pi, Phi Eta Sigma and Omicron Delta Kappa. She was also listed on the Who's Who Among American Universities and Colleges. Betsy is employed by Jemison Elementary School.
The prospective groom is the grandson of Frank Porter of Birmingham and Myrtle Connell of Birmingham.
He is a 1999 graduate of Erwin High School in Center Pointe and graduated in 2006 with a bachelor of science degree in management information systems from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is a member of the Association of Information Technology Professionals. Clay is employed as a cost specialist by United Parcel Service.
The wedding will be an event of 2 o'clock in the afternoon on July 25, at Union Grove Baptist Church in Jemison, with a reception to follow at Petals from the Past in Jemison. All family and friends are invited.
