The committee in charge of the marque at the civic center had created a flashing welcome sign for the class. Mayor Sheldon Day began the tour with the open book that displayed the Wednesday, May 19, 1954 issue of The Thomasville Times, which carried the write-up of the class' graduation.

Mayor Day gave a very informative tour of the building and discussed projects in progress for future additions to the center. Historical information about the school was enjoyed. Boyd Meggison, a class member, shared that his mother, Mildred Megginson, was one of the first teachers in the school, in the early 40's right after the U.S.A. entered into World War II. He commented that she was paid in script (used like cash) as salary. The tour was completed in Mayor Day's office where he discussed the water project in progress and near completion, the new hospital to be constructed, and how the city school system has been used as a model for other cities.

After the tour, Betty and Herman Heaton invited class members to their home for a social time.

The group collected $375 to be donated to the Thomasville High School library for the purchase of books. The books are to be stamped as a gift from the THS class of 1954 in memory of the following class members:

Mary Wade, Virginia Oliver Larrimore, James Deloach, Delton Riddle and Joe Ingram.
