Police charge T'ville boy with sexual asault

The Thomasville Police Department arrested and charged a 15 year old Thomasville youth with sexual assault Dec. 30.

According to lawmen, the boy lured the six year old girl into a shed on Moore Street on Dec. 29 where he allegedly assaulted the girl. The two knew each other and had been raised together almost as family, investigators said.

The girl told her family of the assault and was taken to the emergency room at Southwest Alabama Medical Center. A forensic interview was performed on Dec. 30, by representatives of the Department of Human Resources.

Lawmen interviewed the boy and say he confessed to committing the assault. Because of his age, he is not being held in a secured facility but was released to be with his family at least until a court appearance. At that time, a judge can determine whether the boy should be tried as an adult.
