God will seek you whether or not you seek Him
Spiritual Reflections

In Northern Ghana, the waters of the White Volta and the Black Volta form one river, and flow all the way to the Gulf of Guinea, the waterway to the Atlantic Ocean, which lies on the Southern shore of Ghana. At Akosombo there is a hydroelectric dam on the Volta that forms the largest man made lake in the world.

Peggy and I accompanied six African men, in a canoe down the Volta, below the dam, all the way to where the mighty river meets the incoming tide from the gulf.

It was a thrilling boat ride, and the turbulent surf created where the great river meets the unyielding waters of the Ocean is something most people will never see.

We have seen and experienced many things in Africa that we never dreamed of, and they have served to make us more aware of the greatness of God.

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."

We have also become more aware of the fact that there is only one race, the human race. We have grown to know and love the peoples of Africa, in a way we never expected. We have learned that inside we are all the same. When you peel back the layers of differences caused by culture and environment, what is exposed is God's crowning achievement in the creative act.

Genesis 1:27 says, "So God created human beings in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them."

That means that we all came from the same beginning. It also explains a universal need. God created us in His image, and without Him we have no identity. Man, without God, is lost. If we deny our need for God we live a lie.

The good news is this, whether we seek Him or not, He seeks us.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life," John 3:16.

If you want to be what you were meant to be, get in touch with the one who created you, and I'll see you in church.
