Garrick

Herman Eugene Garrick, 59, of Grove Hill, died February 1, 2010.

Mr. Garrick was born Feb. 22, 1950. He was a graduate of Auburn University and will be remembered for his many years of teaching vocational agriculture at Clarke County High School. Mr. Garrick owned and enjoyed his landscape business, Perfection Landcare, for several years, employing and mentoring high school students. He was a member of Grove Hill Baptist Church.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 2, at Lathan Funeral Home in Grove Hill with the Revs. Dave Rhodes and Bill Faircloth officiating. Burial was in Grove Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Garrick is survived by one daughter, Rachel (Stephen) Powell of Thomasville; one sister, Dora Fleming of Winder, Ga.; and two grandchildren, Gracie Powell and John Allen Powell, both of Thomasville.

Mr. Garrick was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and John Dee Garrick.

Pallbearers were Dean Dumas, Dale Dumas, Daryl Dumas, Tom Dumas, Ward Edge and Ralph Garrick.

Gaston

Cleo Holley Gaston, 86, of Thomasville, died Friday, January 29, 2010, at her home.

Mrs. Gaston was born Dec. 6, 1923 in Georgiana. She was a retired motel and restaurant owner and a member of Camden Baptist Church.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 1, at Camden Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Walters officiating. Burial was in Camden Cemetery.

Mrs. Gaston is survived by three sons, David Lawrence Gaston of Thomasville, Charles Edwin Gaston of Thomasville and Lawrence Cecil Gaston Jr. of Camden; three sisters, Lois Franklin of Evergreen, Goldie Lee Sasser of Evergreen and Pearlene Broughton of Chickasaw; one brother, Harvey Holley of Deatsville; seven grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren.

Pallbearers were Big Daddy Lawler, Wayne Dunnam, Edgar McGraw, Lee Dobson, John Clyde Riggs and S.J. Henderson.

Carstarphen

John Henry Carstarphen, 77, died January 27, 2010 in Mobile.

The funeral will be held Feb. 6, at All Saints Holiness Church. Burial will be in Mt. Sinai Cemetery.

Mr. Carstarphen is survived by four daughters, Cynthia Hammong, Barbara Carstarphen, both of Atlanta, Ga., Lula Brown of Mobile and Johndrea Jackson of Dothan; and sons, Henry and Darrin Carstarphen, both of Atlanta, Ga., James Carstarphen of Jackson and George Stabler of Pensacola, Fla.
