Mrs. Helen Hazelwood Sparks, 84, of Trussville died on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 in Pell City. She was a former resident of Thomasville Nursing Home.
Mrs. Sparks had worked as a secretary at Southern Railway in Birmingham. She later became a homemaker and seamtress. She was a member of Huffman United Methodist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the United Transportation Union. She was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed quilting and kniting.
A graveside service was held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 23, 2010 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A.D. Sparks, Jr.
Mrs. Sparks is survived by three sons, Frank Sparks and Rod (Jan) Sparks both of Birmingham and Kim (Cheryl) Sparks of Thomasville; daughter Diane (Gordon) Owens of Odenville; grandchildren, Stacey (Chip) Morton, Kerri (Kevin) Bevis, Meredith (Darrell) Downing, Paul Sparks, Tyler Burrus, Matthew Sparks, Sarah Sparks, Adam Sparks and Hannah Sparks; great grandchildren, Lauren Morton, Andrew Burrus, Jayce Burrus and Conner Downing.
