Marshall W. Hicks, 97, of Jackson died Thursday, June 10, 2010 at his home.

Mr. Hicks was born December 3, 1912. He was a native of Lower Peachtree and a founding member of the Jackson Rotary Club. He was also a member of the Jackson Civitan Club, a Mason and a member of the Chickasaw Lodge. He was a charter member of NASCAR. He owned and operated Marshall’s Shoe Store for 27 years in Jackson. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Jackson.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 13 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with William Harper officiating. Interment was in Pine Hill Cemetery. An online guestbook may be signed at www.lathanfuneralhomes. com. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

He is preceded in death by his wives, Margaret Shamburger Hicks and Maurice Wheeler Hicks and daughter, Ganga Wheeler.

He is survived by his son, William H. “Bill” (Judy) Hicks of Roswell, Ga.; three daughters, Glenda W. (Wardell) Joye of Mobile, Judith W. (Larry) Quebedeaux of Citronelle and Vickie W. (Terry) Harrison of Jackson; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Terry Harrison, Russell Harrison, Ryan Harrison, Douglas Atchison, Larry Quebedaeux and Billy Moseley.
