It will feature 12 girls in the chorus, 11 brothers, a baker, a butler, Joseph and more.

Joseph is being played by Drew Tucker from Demopolis. Karen Dean serves as the narrator, and Joseph’s eleven brothers are Danny Gates, Jimmy Newton, Jonathan Williams, Zack Smith, Jeremy Overstreet, Caleb Clardy, John Sims, Jack Binkerd, Austin Gates, Malcolm Moore, Joseph Smyly. “The brothers are just awesome,” said Dean. “I feel better about this production than many others.”

Kirk Brooker is directing this year’s production, giving Dean a break and a chance to perform. “I think people will really enjoy seeing something from another director’s point of view,” Dean said.

Katy Craddock arranged the music. “This is going to be a little different, but it’s going to be a lot of fun to watch,” she said.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is the second show written by the team of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice.

Based on the “coat of many colors“ story of Joseph from the Bible‘s Book of Genesis, the show was first presented as a 15-minute pop cantata at Colet Court School in London in 1968.

After many transformations and expansions, and West End and Broadway productions, it was adapted as a straight-to-video film, starring Donny Osmond, in 1999.

The show has very little spoken dialogue, it is sungthrough almost completely. It runs under two hours and is occasionally performed without intermission.

Its family-friendly storyline, universal themes, and catchy music have made Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat a consistently strong-selling title in musical theatre. According to the Really Useful Group, more than 20,000 schools and amateur theatre groups have successfully put on productions.

The show will be performed Friday July 23, Saturday July 24 and Sunday July 25 at the Thomasville Civic Center.. The Friday and Saturday performances will be at 7 p.m. and the Sunday performance will be at 2 p.m. Tickets to the show are $10 each.
