Richard “Dick” Miller Brantley, 79, of Thomasville died December 15, 2010 at Thomasville Nursing Home. He was born April 21, 1931 in Bay Minette.
Dick was retired from International Paper Company. He was a member of the Thomasville Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a longtime member of The Thomasville Hunting Club at Hal’s Lake from 1940 until his death.
Funerals services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 2010 at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home with Dr. James Best, Rev. Jack Nelson Roberts and Rev. Ty Parten officiating. Interment was a Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Lamar Brantley; mother, Frances Whitcomb Brantley and brother, Clyde Whitcomb Brantley.
He is survived by his brother, John Brantley of Columbus, Ga.; sister, Frances Lou Roberts of Mobile.
Pallbearers were Michael Roberts, Jimmie Stephens, Dan Jackson, Billy Jackson, Henry Jackson and Wayne Luker.
Honorary pallbearers were A. L. “Red” Sims, Frank Jackson, and members of he Fishers of Men’s Sunday School Class at Thomasville Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to the Hand-n-Hand Building Fund at Thomasville Baptist Church or to the Lottie Moon Christmas offering.
