Runnels

C. Leon Runnels, Jr., 88, of Birmingham died on February 21, 2011. He formerly lived in Montgomery and Alex City. Mr. Runnels was raised in Pensacola, Fla. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the China - Burma - India theatre. He provided for his family as a salesman.

Graveside services were held Friday, February 25, 2011 at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo with Rev. Alton King, chaplain of Alacare Hospice officiating.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cecile Jackson Runnels; parents, Lennie Parker and Charles Leon Runnels, Sr.; brother, Jack Runnels and son, Steven Bernard Runnels.

His is survived by son, Charles L. Runnels, III (Andrea) of Mentone; daughter, Elaine Snow (Dean) of Homewood; grandchildren, Ian Snow of Dallas, Texas, Andrew Snow and Hugh Snow of Homewood; brother Burrell W. Runnels (Mary) of Birmingham.

In lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Lake Watch of Lake Martin, P.O. Box 72, Alex City, Al 35011 or Gideons International, c/o 1506 Highland Lakes Trail, Birmingham, AL 35242.
