Velma E. Gowan, 98, of Pine Hill died Saturday, March 12, 2011 at her home. She was born April 12, 1912 in Arlington. She retired after working for 15 years as an LPN at Thomasville Hospital. She was a member of the Sunny South Baptist Church and was a member of the Lady Gideons.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Sunny South Baptist Church with Rev. Denny Couturie and Rev. Don Newton officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

She is survived by four daughters, Judith L. Gaddy of Morgan City, La., Peggy L. Chance of Selma, Bobbie L. Parker of Sunny South and Jeanette Lowry of Foley; brother, Jesse (Mildred) Englett, Jr. of Orrville; sister, Edith E. Hale of Orrville; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 14 great-greatgrandchildren.

Pallbearers were Sherman Williams, Robert Berry, Paul Sheffield, Theron Bradford, Charles Gaddy and Jeff Parker.
