William Shields Fowler, 70, of Grove Hill died Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Jackson Medical Center. He was born October 10, 1940 in Grove Hill. He was a retired paper mill worker and a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Grove Hill.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Grove Hill Baptist Church with Rev. David Curtis officiating. Interment was at Magnolia Lawn Cemetery in Grove Hill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Buster Fowler; wife, Betty Ann Morgan Fowler and son, John Barry Fowler.

He is survived by his son, William Curtis Fowler of Montgomery; two sisters, Mary Neil Brunson of Grove Hill and Patricia Diane Johnson of Mexia; four grandchildren, Emily Ann Fowler, Elizabeth Abigail Fowler and Audrey Ellen Fowler all of Montgomery and Rebecca Leigh Fowler of Decatur.

Pallbearers were Lee Carlisle, Tracy Newton, Deran Morgan, Chandler Sammons, Arvin Ray Brunson and Tim Schultz.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Keith Scott, Grove Hill Fire Department, Thomasville Fire Department, Jackson Fire Department and Fulton Fire Department.
