John Cooper Anderson, 68, a retired auto body repairman, of Whatley died Sunday, June 26, 2011, at his home He was born April 23, 1943 in Whatley. He was a member of the Amity Baptist Church in Whatley.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Amity Baptist Church with Rev. Percy Clarke officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his father, Luther Jeston Anderson; mother, Phoebie Jane Gilbert Anderson; seven brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Buckalew Anderson of Whatley; two sons, Ronnie (Nita) Bennett of Whatley and Mike (Savina) Anderson of McIntosh; four daughters, Terry (Tim) Davis of Alabaster, Jennifer (Mike) Fleming of Whatley, Charlotte (Jeff) Sellers and Rena Paul both of Grove Hill; brother, Melvin (Rosie) Anderson of Saraland; two sisters, Ruby (Ken) Davis of Whatley and Deloris (Bennie) Counselman of Jackson; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Hunter Smith, Nicholas Sellers, Richard Bennett, Layton Davis, Kelly Davis and Brett Goodman.

Honorary pallbearers were Mike Fleming, Jeff Sellers, Drew Solorzano, Tim Davis, Caleb Smith, Ronnie Bennett and Mike Anderson.
