Roy Hare, 85, a native of New Prospect and resident of Grove Hill, died Saturday, Aug. 6. 2011 at Southwest Alabama Medical Center. He was born October 3, 1925. He was a self-employed timber man and farmer. He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church and attended Tompkins Baptist Church.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, 2011 at Tompkins Baptist Church in Grove Hill. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
He is survived by three sons, Ronnie (Linda) Hare, Rodger (Joan) Hare and Randy (Mirenda) Hare all of Grove Hill; five grandchildren, Jason Hare, Zac Hare, Cannan Hare, Ranse Hare and Roxanna Hare; great-grandson, John Reynolds Hare.
Pallbearers were Jason Hare, Zac Hare, Cannaan Hare, Ranse Hare, Blake Rager, Ralph Armistead and Phillip Reynolds.
Honorary pallbearers was the nursing staff and residents of Thomasville Nursing Home and members of Harris Creek Hunting Club.
