Ott

Clayburn “John” Ott, 74, of Grove Hill, died Saturday, Aug, 20, 2011, at Mobile Infirmary. He was born May 12, 1937 in Choctaw Bluff. He was retired from Searcy Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2011 at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Morris Hill officiating. Interment was at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Grove Hill.

He is survived by two sons, Kevin (Eileen) Ott of Mobile and Ryan (Ann) Ott of Thomasville; daughter, Darnelle (Scott) Lewis of Thomasville; brother, Bob (Sue) Ott of Chilton; two sisters, Alma Jean (Jerry) Kirkham of Grove Hill and Nancy (Ben) Pugh of Thomasville; eight grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren; dear friend, Nadine Bailey and family.

Pallbearers were Donald Pugh, Michael Pugh, Chad Ott, Rusty Morgan, Jeff Ott, Clay Baugh, Wyman Pugh and Wendell Pugh.

Honorary pallbearers were Shelton Jackson, John Reeves and Donald Nordan, Jr.

As of Jan. 1, 2009, The Times began charging a $20 insertion fee for all obituaries and that are processed through funeral homes placing the obituaries. The obituaries are $10 each if placed in two or all three of the county newspapers (The Thomasville Times, The Clarke County Democrat and The South Alabamian). Photographs of the deceased and U.S. flag art denoting military service can be added for an additional fee of $5. The newspapers will continue to publish brief death notices at no charge, giving the name, age, date of death and hometown of the deceased, immediate survivors (spouse and children only) and the place of the funeral and of burial. Other survivors, funeral ministers, pallbearers and other information on the deceased will be confined to paid obituaries.
