James Milford Downey, 75, of Sweet Water died Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, in Meridian, Miss. He was born January 10, 1936 in Sweet Water. He was a retired woodyard supervisor with James River paper Mill, Corp. and a member of the Old Union Baptist Church.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, September 5, 2011 at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home with Dr. Bobby Hopper officiating. Interment was at Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Sweet Water.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Marlene Downey of Sweet Water; daughter, Debra Darlene Smith of Livingston; sonin law, Mark Smith of Livingston; sister, Modine Goodman of Panama City, Fla.; grandson, Christopher Smith of Atlanta, Ga.
Pallbearers were Pete Harris, Ed Sheffield, Thad Dunn, Pitman Huckabee, Bill Lockett and Curtis Gates.
Honorary pallbearers were Sid Pope, Jerry Dunn, Kinner Jowers and Bud Black.
