James Mavis “Snooks” Reid, 88, of Thomasville, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2011 at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery. He was born October 20, 1922 in Tallahatta Springs. He was a former accountant and was a member of Elam Baptist Church.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011 at Elam Baptist Church with Rev. Benny Crawford and Rev. Danny Ellis officiating. Interment was at Elam Baptist Church Cemetery in Thomasville.
He is preceded in death by his son, Tony Reid.
He is survived by his wife, Runelle Crawford Reid of Thomasville; two sons, James Monroe Reid of Thomasville and Terry Wayne Reid of Millbrook; sister, Juanita Fleming of Thomasville; brother, Roy L. Reid of Thomasville; two grandchildren, James Mavis Reid, II in Afghanistan and Tera Frances Reid of Washington, D.C.
Pallbearers were Tommy Reid, Clint Thompson, Robert Smith, Johnny Reid, Kenny Kelley and Paul Gibson.
Honorary pallbearers were The Deacons of Elam Baptist Church, Tim Kelley, Willis Paul Slade, Dale Jordan, Eugene Phillips and Harold Reid.
