James Roy Dixon, 82, of Dixons Mills died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011 at his home. He was born September 27, 1929 in Dixons Mills. He was a farm equipment mechanic and a retired maintenance supervisor from MacMillan Bloedel, Inc. He was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011 at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Fields officiating. Interment was at Dunning Cemetery in Dixons Mills.
He is survived by his wife, Viola Hill Dixon of Dixons Mills; son, James Melvin Dixon of Dixons Mills; daughter, Ann Dixon White of Canton, Ga.; sister, Elizabeth Dixon Hicks of Dixons Mills; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Eddie Hill, Jimmy Dixon, Wiley “Buddy” Stephens, Jr., Lane Smith, Vann Phillips and Tommy Hudson.
Honorary pallbearers were Lyman Jones, Joe Hicks, Steve Glass, Mike Hill, Claude Owens, Hall Stewart and Neil Champion.
