Mary S. Kotrola, 72, a native of Takoma Park, Md. and a resident of Thomasville for over 30 years, died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011 at a Mobile hospital. She was born April 28, 1939. She was a member of St. Joseph Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Thomasville/ Grove Hill. She was a homemaker and volunteer for the American Red Cross blood drives and Hospice in Thomasville.

She is survived by her husband, Al Kotrola; two sons, John S. (Nahed) Kotrola of Williamsburg, Va. and Joseph A. Kotrola of Mobile; two daughters, Lauren M. Kotrola of Thomasville and Jennifer K. (Shawn) James of Fulton; three grandchildren, Hana N. Kotrola, Sean S. Kotrola and Cameron L. James; brother, Gilbert S. Stearns of Dickinson, Md.; numerous nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grove Hill Thursday, October 27, 2011, at 2 p.m. The Mass will be concelebrated by the pastor, Reverend Wayne M. Youngman, and former pastor, Reverend Patrick J. Madden. The cremains will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Catholic Charities Appeal, the Mobile Archdiocese Burse Club, or your favorite charity.
