Grady Guy Dews, 84, born July 24, 1927, died November 16, 2011 at Mobile Infirmary. He was a native of Thomasville and resident of Mobile. He was a former employee of Scotch Lumber Company and a member of Grove Hill Methodist Protestant Church in Grove Hill.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011 at Grove Hill Methodist Protestant Church with Rev. Benny Crawford officiating. Interment was at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Dixons Mills.

He was preceded in death by his step-son, Elbert Alford; daughter, Alice “Rebe” Sullivan; stepdaughters, Leila Ray Dungan and Hazel Dungan; brothers, Doc Dews and Tommy Dews; sisters, Carrie Alford and Betty Thomas.

He is survived by his daughter, Ann Sheets of Blaten Springs, Fla.; stepsons, Elroy Alford and James Alford both of Thomasville; Johnny Ray Alford of Grove Hill; Harold Alford of Coffeeville and Buster Alford of Mobile; stepdaughter, Glenda Alford of Blountstown, Fla.; sisters, Elma Wixey of Grove Hill and Katie Yow of Ocean Springs, Miss.; numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
