Berta Mae Earley Lee, 84, a homemaker of Pine Hill, died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at her home. She was born Feb. 16, 1927 in Birmingham. She was a member of the Pine Hill Chapel of The Apostolic Faith.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011 at Pine Hill Chapel of The Apostolic Faith with Revs. Jim Arnoll and Mike Brening officiating. Interment was at New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. “Paw Paw” Lee; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Linda Hardin; two brothers, Raybon Earley and Jerald Earley; sister, Jewel Earley Huitt Kynard.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa A. (Charlie) Bowers of Birmingham; son-in-law, Billy Averitt of Pine Hill; nine grandchildren, Jamie (Caroline) Averitt of Catherine, Brandun (Leigh) Averitt of Thomaston; Shannon Averitt of Pine Hill; Brittany Bailey and Raven Earley of Tuscaloosa; Michael Hardin, Anita West, Andrea West and Johnny West all of Birmingham; 15 greatgrandchildren; two greatgreat grandchildren and many other nieces, nephews and family members.
She also survived by the children, teenagers and young adults she loved and welcomed in to her home and life along with special friends and neighbors who will miss her so much.
Pallbearers were Lee Barkley, Craig Whitfield, Chris Godbold, Chad Autrey, Wendall Newton and Brent Collins.
Honorary pallbearers were James Carpenter, Mike Stockman, Ralph Sheffield, Joe Hicks, Bobby Barkley, Kenneth Vick, Baxter Collins, Teddy Dunn and Billy Kynard.
