Rush was a long-standing member of Knollwood Assembly of God Church. She was the valedictorian of her high school graduating class. She also was a charter class graduate of the University of Mobile in 1967 and was the recipient of the J. L. Bedsole Improvement Award. She taught school for 25 years in public and private settings, during which time she received her Master of Arts in Education.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Apr. 24, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Saraland. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Quinton W. Rush; daughter, Dianne R. Cottrell; grandson, Jeremy M. Cottrell; parents, Carlos and Alice McDonald; four brothers, Fred, Herman, Watson and Alexander McDonald.
She is survived by two daughters, Nelda R. (Tommy) Woodall of Resaca, Ga. and Sandra R. (Charles) Covington of Longwood, Fla.; two sons, Neville Q. (Joyce) Rush of Panama City, Fla. and Carl A. (Stacy) Rush of Alexandria, Va.; five sisters, Marlene Brock, Theda Ertzgard, Faye (Everette) Stephens, Ouida McIntyre and Anna Welsh; brother, Calvin McDonald; 17 grandchildren, 33 greatgrandchildren, two greatgreat grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were Ben Cottrell, Seth Cottrell, Charles Covington, Calvin McDonald, Keith Rush, Kenneth Stephens and Randall Woodall.
Honorary pallbearers were Mrs. Rush’s grandchildren.
