Growing up in Thomasville, he was the winner of the Thomasville Library Summer reading program when he was in the sixth grade. His love of reading continued throughout his life. He attended the Huntsville Space Camp and his picture was in The Thomasville Times following his graduation from camp.
Jansen attended Thomasville Baptist Church where he trusted in Jesus Christ as his Savior. He knew God loved him. The family looks forward to seeing him again in heaven.
After working at Wal- Mart in high school, Jansen was named Transitional Student of the Year and honored during a weekend retreat at Auburn University. He continued to work as an associate at Wal-Mart for 14 years. Everyone in Thomasville knew him from his work.
A 1995 graduate of Thomasville High School, Jansen continued his education at Alabama Southern and Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa. After moving to Tuscaloosa in 2003, he was active in the art community. He was the Artist of the Month at a local Tuscaloosa business displaying his paintings throughout the store. His art was displayed at the Capital in Montgomery for several years. He was a member of the Alabama Art Kitchen where he also worked parttime.
Survivors include his parents, Donna and Marvin Jansen and brother John Jansen, all of Tuscaloosa. An infant sister Joy and a brother, Matthew Jansen, predeceased him.
The memorial service was Aug. 5 at Northport Funeral Services Chapel.
