James “Jimmy” Smith, 78, of Thomasville died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012 at Mobile Infirmary. He was born Sept. 9, 1934 in Moss Point, Miss. He was a former dispatcher with MacMillan Bloedel Corporation, a member of the Elam Baptist Church and a U. S. Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Smith; son, Dewayne (Kaye) Smith of Thomasville; daughter Jeanne (Warren) Noble of Thomasville; brother, Charles (Cecil George) Smith of Ocean Springs, Miss; three grandchildren, J. C. Smith of Dixons Mills, Christi Mathers of Butler and Katie Smith of Thomasville; great grandchild, Jayce Smith of Dixons Mills; daughter-inlaw, Joann Smith of Birmingham; niece, Alta Mereo of Ocean Springs, Miss.; nephew, Trevor Smith of Ocean Springs, Miss. and special friend, Jody Lindsey.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Sept. 18 at Elam Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Ellis, Rev. Lister Hill and Rev. Bobby Hodge officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Active pallbearers were Rodney Harrison, Jodey Ennis, Kevin Ennis, Michael Breland, Trevor Smith and Terry Smith.
