Luther Gilder “Billy” Day, 93, a former mechanic of Mobile, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012 at his home. He was born April 27, 1919 in Bashi. Day moved to Mobile in 1959 and joined Cottage Hill Baptist Church in 1961. He was a World War II, U. S. Army veteran.

His is survived by his wife, Joy Parden Day of Mobile; two daughters, Twilla Day (Tommy) Reid of Thomasville and Dawn Day (Brian) Boutwell of Mobile; three grandchildren, Adam Reid of Grove Hill, Neal Reid of Thomasville and Rece Boutwell of Mobile; and two great-grandchildren, Thomas Reid and Tyler Reid, both of Grove Hill.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Nettie Quill Cassity and his twin sister, Luna Bell Ott.

Funeral services were at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012 with Dr. Danny Ellis officiating. Interment followed at Choctaw Corner Cemetery with O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Active pallbearers were Tommy Reid, Brian Boutwell, Adam Reid, Neal Reid, Henry Ott and Thomas Ott. Honorary pallbearers were Edward Kelley and J. F. Mitchell.
