Mattie Alice Nichols Deaton, 94, of Thomasville died Friday, Sept. 28, 2012 at Mobile Infirmary. She was born Nov. 5, 1917 in Nicholsville and held many jobs from drug store clerk to waitress.

She is survived by three sons, William (Dot) Fendley and James R. Fendley, both of Thomasville and Melvin T. Fendley of Saraland; two daughters, Betty Thompson of Thomasville and Carolyn Roberts of Grove Hill; stepdaughter, Ann (Bob) Hudson of Bel Air, Md.; two stepsons, James (Jackie) Nichols, Sr. of Memphis, Tenn. and William Deaton of Amory, Miss.; daughter-in-law, Judy Nichols of Grove Hill; two sisters, Anna Lou Johnson of Selma and Evelyn Ross of Selmont; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 1, 2012 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, Miss. with the Rev. George Collins officiating. Interment followed at Haughton Memorial Gardens. Local arrangements were by O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home.
