Emma Belle Nichols, 85, a homemaker of Thomasville, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital. She was born July 28, 1927 in Bashi and lived to be a wife and mother. She was a member of the Thomasville Baptist Church, were she spent many years volunteering in the children's programs.
She is survived by her daughter, Deana Nichols (Rusty) Swanson of Thomasville; two sisters, Fay (Fred) Fendley of Thomasville and Adell Rivers of McIntosh; two brothers, Benton (Laverne) Rivers of Atlantic Beach, N.C. and Billy (Sybil) Rivers of Malcolm; three grandchildren, Stephanie Ruth Pruitt of Thomasville; Michelle Nicole Pruitt (Paul) Glass of Montgomery and Jessica Dawn (Brian Hines) Pruitt of Okayama, Japan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Nichols; two brothers, Norman Rivers and Ira Rivers; two sisters, Evelyn Agee and Jewel Flinn.
Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 19 at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Glass, Rev. Ty Parten and Dr. James Best officiating. Interment followed at Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville with O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Active pallbearers were Ronald Pruitt, Glen Padgett, Glenn Cox, Ronald Fendley, Gerry Fendley and Nick Fendley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Thomasville Baptist Church, Baptist World Hunger or The Alabama Baptist Children's Home.
