Elsie Merle Jackson, 87, of Thomasville died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 at her home. She was born Sept. 11, 1925 in Surginer and was a homemaker and a volunteer with the Salvation Army. She was a member of the Thomasville Baptist Church, where she was a member of the T. E. L. Elect Ladies Sunday School Class.
She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl (Grady) Bedwell of Jackson and Beryl Anderson of Birmingham; five grandchildren, Don (Alaina) Anderson of Montgomery; Donna (Richard) Parrish of Madison; Brooke (Hampton) Smith and Elizabeth (Chris) Bailey, both of Mobile and Lesley (Michael) Lightcap of Spanish Fort; five greatgrandchildren, Jackson and Kennedy Smith, Anna Catherine Lightcap, Caroline Anderson and Mary Pierson Bailey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Jacob Jackson.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Jan. 30 at Thomasville Baptist Church with Rev. Ty Parten officiating. Interment followed at Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville with O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Active pallbearers were Don Anderson, Richard Parrish, Michael Lightcap, Hampton Smith, Chris Bailey, Bob Megginson, Allen Jackson and Charlie Anderson. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Crow, Joe Hubka, Barbara Hubka, Andy Jackson, Harvey Sheffield, Lucille Sheffield, Joe Bill Jeffrey, Gary Cockerham, Willard Gates, Betty Jo Gates, Charles Wilson, Geraldine Blakeney and members of the T.E.L./Elect Ladies Sunday School Class at Thomasville Baptist Church.
