Tommie Dee Kennedy, 99, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013 at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital. She was born Nov. 18, 1913 in Jackson to Thomas M. and Martha Wilson Bradford. Kennedy, a resident of Dickinson, attended Clarke County High School and the State Teacher’s College at Livingston (now University of West Alabama). She taught school in Pine Hill, Dickinson, Grove Hill and other locations. After her marriage to Hannis Kennedy, she worked in her father’s store, the T. M. Bradford General Store in Dickinson. At the tender age of eight years, she joined Dickinson Baptist Church and remained a loyal member for 91 years, never moving her membership and teaching Sunday School for over 50 years and participated in WMU. She was also a member of the Gideon’s Auxiliary, The Elizabeth Bradford Chapter of DAR and the Homemakers Club.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hannis Kennedy.
Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 26 in the Chapel of Lathan Funeral Home. Interment followed at the Magnolia Lawn Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
