Melvin White, 69, of Pine Hill died Monday, Jan. 21, 2013 at his home. He was born April 18, 1943 in Milton, Fla. White was the owner of M. C. White Trucking Company and was a member of the Yellow Bluff Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Nell White of Pine Hill; two sons, Gregory Carl White and Williams Bruce (Linda) White, both of Pine Hill; three sisters, Betty Mitchell Horton of Pine Hill; Ella Colley and Mary Jane (Bruce) Blackburn, both of Panama City Beach, Fla. and grandchild, Daserre Kathlin White of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his brother, William Ray White.
Funeral services were Thursday, Jan. 24 at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Alan Odom and Rev. Aubrey Wallace officiating. Interment followed at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery No. 2 in Maplesville with O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Active pallbearers were Marvin Smith, Jr., Jason Harvell, Mark Smith, Walter Smith, Kevin Averitt, Johnny Campbell, Skipper Wallace, Dusty Button, Jimmy Johnson and Kenneth Roaster. Honorary pallbearers were Alan Odom, Jerry Stough, Brandon Stough and Steve Wells.
