James Woodrow Jowers, 75, of Thomasville died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013 at his home. He was born Feb. 22, 1937 in Nanafalia and was an equipment operator with the State of Alabama Highway Department.
He is survived by his wife, Murray Jean Jowers of Thomasville; two sons, James Willis "Bubba" (April) Jowers of Surginer and Ronald Woodrow (Kayla) Jowers of Scyrene; five daughters, Shanda (Jake) Epp of Santa Fe, N.M., Niki (Michael) Jowers and Mary Jowers, both of Thomasville, Sandy (Cecil) Jowers of Jackson, Leigh (Curtis) Barnes of Dickinson and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 5 at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral with Rev. Hal Taylor and Rev. Clifford Moore officiating. Interment followed at Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Sweet Water with O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Active pallbearers were Jerry R. Dunn, Thad Dunn, James Gates, Michael Phillips, Craig Anderson and Jeffrey Williams. Honorary pallbearers were Walter Maness, Roger Maness, the staff of Southern Care Hospice and Amedysis Home Health of Thomasville.
