Walter Henri Etheridge, 89, of Sweet Water died Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at his home. He was born Oct. 20, 1923 in Sweet Water and was retired from Georgia Pacific Corp., a member of the Beaver Creek Baptist Church and a World War II, U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth M. Etheridge of Sweet Water; two sons, Stan (Carol) Etheridge of Thomasville and Joe (Sandra) Etheridge of Jackson; brother, Roy Etheridge of Sweet Water; four grandchildren, Mark (Hannah) Etheridge, Laurie (Mark) Mayo and their mother, Carolyn Weldon and Schuyler and Colin Etheridge and three greatgrandchildren, Madison Etheridge, Ellie and Sadie Kate Mayo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Betty Etheridge; two brothers, William Etheridge and Cecil "Bug" Etheridge; five sisters, Sadie Etheridge, Mary Etheridge, Jimmy Mayton, Sara Nolan and Elma "Dee" Glass.

Funeral services were Thursday, May 30 at Beaver Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Sidney Hill and Rev. Thomas Anderson officiating. Interment followed at the Beaver Creek Cemetery in Sweet Water with O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville directing.

Active pallbearers were Colin Etheridge, Mark Etheridge, Mark Mayo, Bob Etheridge, Roy Etheridge, Jr., Kenny Bedsole, Arthur Glass, Andy Etheredge and Tommy Luker.
