Alice Marie Megginson Mooney, 69, died Monday, May 20, 2013 at her home following a brief illness. She was a native a Thomasville and a resident of the Goodway Community near Frisco City.

Mooney was born July 16, 1943, was a member of Midway Baptist Church and a 1961 graduate of Thomasville High School. After moving to Monroe County, she attended Mineola Baptist Church and the First Baptist Church of Goodway. She was a retiree of Vanity Fair Mills in Monroeville and an active member of the Senior Center in Frisco City. She also enjoyed singing with a group who entertained the residents at nursing homes each week.

She is survived by her husband, Elmer R. “Rick” Mooney, Jr. of Goodway; two daughters, Angela Stacey (John) Dates and Nickie Stacey Hines, both of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; stepdaughter, Angela Mooney; stepson, Michael Mooney of Lubbock, Texas; sister, Nancy (Wilmer) Odom; brother, Tommy (Linda) Megginson of Thomasville; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivy C. and Marie Bagley Megginson; three daughters, Sandie Stacey Soukup, Robbin Stacey and Wendy Stacey Whitaker; brother, Terry Megginson and three grandsons, Daniel Hines, David Hines and Chris Hines.

Memorial services were Wednesday, May 22 at the First Baptist Church of Goodway with Rev. George Fisher and Rev. Robert Knowles officiating. Graveside services were Saturday, June 1 at Midway Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Rex Jackson officiating.
