Lowell Burleson Lewis, 96, of Sweet Water died Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Speciality Hospital of Meridian. He was born Aug. 7, 1916 in Exmore. He was a retired postal carrier and was a member of the Sweet Water Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Glass Lewis of Sweet Water; son, Stanley (Camilla) Lewis of Sweet Water; two daughters, Annita (Ralph) Perkins of Sweet Water and Wanda (Joe) Powers of Milton, Fla.; sister, LaVerl Barnhill of Sweet Water; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-greatgrandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents Rev. Gaston and Alma Hurt Lewis; grandson Scott Perkins; brothers, Ferrell Lewis and Glenn Lewis and sister, RoNita Hendricks.
Funeral services were Tuesday, June 25 at Sweet Water Baptist Church with Rev. Douglas Turner officiating. Interment followed in the Sweet Water Cemetery with O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville directing.
Active pallbearers were Michael Lewis, Mike Mendenhall, Bobby Digmon, Jason Powers, Doug Hurst and Jeff Lewis. Honorary pallbearers were the senior adult Sunday School class of Sweet Water Baptist Church, J. D. Flowers and Roy Etheridge.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Sweet Water Cemetery Fund.
