Grove Hill Memorial Hospital. She was born in York to the late William Steve and Ora Dee Chaney.
She is survived by a devoted, loving husband, David J. Scott of Thomasville; three sons, Gregory (Rachel) Chaney of Lawton, Okla., David (Tonisha) Scott, Jr. of Selma and Ter'Shune (Dawn) Scott of Birmingham; one daughter, Brooklyon Scott of Thomasville; eight grandchildren and siblings, Lucille Chess and Grover S. Chaney, both of Los Angeles, Calif., Albert (Mary) Chaney of Peoria, Ill., Bertha (Johnny) Rodgers of York and Paul (Mary) Chaney of Macon, Ga.; numerous nieces and nephews; cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by siblings Larry William, Billie G., Richard L. and Johnny L. Chaney.
A service of remembrance will be Saturday, July 6 at 11:00 a.m. at Eastern Star Baptist Church, in the Grant City Community of York, with Rev. Charles H. Delaine, pastor, delivering the eulogy. Chaney is to lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time. Interment will follow in Mt. Herman Cemetery, also in York with Weatherly Funeral Home directing. After the committal service, the family will receive friends for repast in the fellowship hall of Eastern Star. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Friday, July 5 from 4 - 7 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel. On Saturday morning at 10:40 a.m. the processional will leave the residence of her sister, Bertha Chaney Rodges, located 104 Moore Avenue, York.
