Gerald Douglas Smith, 77, of Thomasville died Friday, July 5, 2013 at Mobile Infirmary. He was born April 14, 1936 in Lasca and was a contractor and a home designer.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Smith of Thomasville; two sons, Melvin Douglas (Sandra) Smith of Nanafalia and Arthur Russ (Sidney) Smith of Thomasville; two daughters, Carolyn Sue (Mark) Dozier of Thomasville and Angela Gayle (Roger) Shoultz of Mobile; four brothers, Raymond Smith of Chicago, Ill., Buddy Smith, Shelton Smith and Champ Smith, all of Sweet Water; three sisters, Louise Jowers of Sweet Water, Mary Hutchins of Clanton and Eula Ree Taylor of Mississippi; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday, July 8 at O'Bryant chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Brooks Etheridge and Andy Black officiating. Interment followed at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Nanafalia with O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville directing.
Active pallbearers were Josh Smith, Chase Dozier, Lance Howard, Drew Scott, Damien Morgan and Jeff Kelley. Honorary pallbearers were Jesse Galbraith, Troy Stabler, Robert Hill, Buddy Bedwell, Cecil Thompson, Ed Parrish, Noland Atkins, Stratton Lewis, James Rutherford, Bill Harrison, Phillip Nichols and Benny Ray Stephens.
