Lewis “Shorty” Overton, Jr., 70, a welder of Lower Peach Tree died Friday, Aug. 16, 2013 at his home. He was born Feb. 4, 1943 in Fulton.
He is survived by his wife, Glenna Overton of Thomasville; two sons, William Lewis Overton and Lynn Chaney Overton, both of Thomasville; daughter, Terri Murphy Woods of Pine Hill; mother, Marguerite Overton of Thomasville; two brothers, Bob Overton of Fulton and Ray Terry Overton of Lower Peach Tree; four sisters, Sandra Gail Overton Chaney, June Marie Overton Newton and Betty O. King, all of Thomasville and Cheryl Strohm of Pittsburg, Pa.; nine grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.
Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 19 at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Grey Snodgrass and Bro. William Newton officiating. Interment followed at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Thomasville with O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville directing.
Active pallbearers were Jay Novem, Wyman Pugh, James Chaney, Kyle Chaney, Josh Dunegan and Barry W. Haskew. Honorary pallbearers were the staff of Hospice Advantage and Dr. T. B. Darji.
