Martha Ann Byrd, 72, a resident of West Bend, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013 at Jackson Medical Center. She was born Aug. 29, 1941 and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She worked as a bookkeeper for Village Pharmacy in Coffeeville. Byrd was very family and community oriented and was known for her love of cooking.

She is survived by her husband, James T. “Ducky” Byrd of West Bend; four children, Jerry (Jennifer) James of Jackson, Renee (Neal) Bishop of Spanish Fort, Tommy Byrd and Deborah (Jay) Eubanks, both of Mobile; sister, Mary Evelyn (Jim) Faircloth of Jacksonville, Fla.; seven grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Sept. 10 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with Bro. Warren Shewmake and Bro. Butch Starks officiating. Interment followed at West Bend Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.

Active pallbearers were Neal Bishop, John Bishop, Lloyd Bishop, Jay Eubanks, Derek James and Phillip James. Honorary pallbearers were Willie Parden, Lloyd Orso, Billy Robinson, Joe Stringer, Melvin York, Bruce Mathers, Jimmy Counselman, Jerry Parden and many other friends and family members.
