Elizabeth Dillard Blakeney, 93, of Thomasville died Friday, Nov. 1, 2013 at her home. She was born Aug. 27, 1920 in Florence and was a retired school teacher of 58 years in Clarke, Marengo and Choctaw Counties. She was an active member of Pineview Baptist Church, a Sunday School Teacher and a piano and organ player for 44 years. She was a member of the WMU for over 50 years, a member of the Worthwhile Club, the Easter Star Ladies Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by two sons, Earl Parrish, Jr. and Fhia Lung Wong; daughter, Cleopatra Uriarte Blakeney; former daughter-in-law, Donna Andrews Parham; six grandchildren, James Blake Thompson, Austin Jeffrey Parrish, Katie Elizabeth Parrish, Addison Lynn Parrish, David Randy Blakeney and William Harrell Blakeney, five great-grandchildren and nephews, Bill Blakeney, Randy Blakeney and Blakeney Rogers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harrell Blakeney; daughter, Eula Jenkins Thompson; granddaughter, Paula Beth Thompson and her parents, Charles and Elsie Duckett Dillard.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Nov. 5 at Pineview Baptist Church with Rev. Blake Thompson officiating. Interment followed at the Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville with O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville directing.
Active pallbearers were Austin Parrish, Mike Walker, Neal McConnell, Wendell Sheffield, Al Agee and Marshall Parten. Honorary pallbearers were Earl Parrish, Paul Thompson, Morris Knight, Scott Smyly, Anthony DeBusk and members of the men’s Sunday School Class at Pineview Baptist Church.
