Richard Kevin “Richie” Cumlander, 45, of Grove Hill died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013 after a valiant fight with pancreatic cancer. He loved and adored his wife and two children. He was a friend to every one he met. He was a 1986 graduate of Clarke County High School and a former employee of ThyssenKrupp where he worked in mechanical maintenance. Cumlander was an avid Auburn fan.
He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Cumlander; his 12-year old daughter, Shelby Alana Cumlander and his 10-year old son, Tyeson Lane Cumlander, all of Grove Hill; his mother, Julia Cumlander of Grove Hill; two brothers, Ron (Libby) Cumlander of Mobile and David Cumlander of Grove Hill and the following nieces and nephew, Katie C. (Jonathan) Braswell, Kyle Cumlander and Ally Cumlander.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Cumlander and his grandparents, Sidney Bynum Cumlander, Minnie Lou Cumlander, David Henson and Leta Spurlin.
Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Chapel of Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with Rev. Alvin Kolb and Rev. Billy Cardwell officiating. Interment followed in the Allen Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson officiating.
Active pallbearers were Dewayne Huggins, Shawn Copeland, Shannon Finney, T-Bob Andrews, Steve Kelley and Junior Kelley. Honorary pallbearers were the Clarke County High School Class of 1986.
