Barbara Cayley Ford, 85, of Thomasville died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013 at Thomasville Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born March 12, 1928 in Waxahachie, Texas. Ford received a bachelor’s degree from Jacksonville State University in 1948. That same year she married Edwin Ford of Thomasville. After living in Jacksonville, Birmingham and Mobile, she and Edwin moved to Thomasville in 1965, and she began teaching science in the Thomasville Elementary School. She retired from the Thomasville City Schools in 1990 and was a member of the Clarke County Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of the Thomasville United Methodist Church and active in the United Methodist Women. She was a 30-year member of the Research Club. She was an avid reader and active in the Friends of the Library.
She is survived by her husband, Edwin R. Ford of Thomasville; children, Melanie F. (Haynes) Kelley of Montgomery, Stephen G. Ford of Thomasville and Melissa F. (Alex) Taylor of Houston, Texas. She was blessed to have seven grandsons and three greatgrandchildren.
Memorial services were Saturday, Nov. 30 at Thomasville United Methodist Church with Rev. George Sedberry officiating and O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville directing.
