Archie Winston Stringer, 91, of Thomasville died Friday, Jan. 10, 2014 at Thomasville Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Nov. 11, 1922 in Finley Crossing. Stringer was a retired mail carrier and a member of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. He was U. S. Army Veteran, a member of the American Legion Post #112 and Blue Rock Hunting Club.

He is survived by his wife, Jesse Lee Dunn Stringer of Thomasville; two daughters, Rose Bretling of Gallion and June Gray Tucker of Demopolis; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Alice Jeannine Barron; son, John Bragg Tucker, Jr.; grandson, Samuel Breitling; father, Peter G. Stringer and mother, Nettie Lee Stringer.

Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 13 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Rev. Don Newton and Rev. Ty Parten officiating. Interment followed at Finley Crossing Cemetery with O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville directing.

Active pallbearers were James Barron, James Breitling, Charles Hamilton, Allen Hamilton, Ken Hamilton and John Bragg Tucker.
