Charles Austin Tucker, 83, of Sweet Water died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014 at Rush Foundation Hospital. He was born June 20, 1930 in Campground. He was a supervisor with Borden Chemical Company, a member of the Campground United Methodist Church where he served as treasurer for two years and was the founder of the church Trustee Board. He was also a U. S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Tucker of Sweet Water; two daughters, Wanda (Henry) Morgan of Sweet Water and Myrtle Tucker of Big Point, Miss.; son, Buddy (Rachel) Tucker of Thomasville; brother, James (Peggy) Tucker of Linden; two sisters, Myrtle Brooks Fields of Sweet Water and Nell (Don) Barkley of Linden; sister-in-law, Grace Tucker of Demopolis; nine grandchildren; twenty greatgrandchildren; a host of stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Jefferson Tucker and Willie Mae Ward Tucker, five brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Jan. 22 at Campground United Methodist Church with Rev. Lee Roy Shaw and Pastor Josh Gill officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery in Sweet Water with O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Linden.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in memory of Charles Tucker to Campground United Methodist Church.
Active pallbearers were Dale Morgan, Damien Morgan, Clifton Tucker, Wayne Tucker, Michael Williams and Patrick Ducote. Honorary pallbearer was Billy Rentz.
