James Floyd Atchison, 70, born Oct. 3, 1943, entered into rest Monday, Feb. 3, 2014. Atchison was a native of Salitpa and resident of Jackson. He grew up attending River Hill Baptist Church and was currently attending First Assembly of God in Jackson. He was a Veteran having served in the U. S. Army and had retired from Boise after 40+ years. He was a very hardworking man who loved football, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Carol Roberts Atchison of Jackson; son, Brett (Shay) Atchison of Wetumpka; daughter, Stacy Atchison of Jackson; brothers, Roy Atchison, Robert “Bobby” Atchison, Ronnie Atchison, Fred Atchison and David Atchison; sisters, Florence Marie Faircloth and Nancy Townsend; grandchildren, Hope Atchison and Jake Atchison.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Clois and Willie Ree Mauldin Atchison; brothers, Charles Raymond Atchison, Wayne Atchison and Mike Atchison.
Funeral services were Thursday, Feb. 6 at First Assembly of God with Pastor E. C. Russell officiating. Interment followed at the River Hill Baptist Cemetery in Salitpa with Lathan Funeral Home in Jackon directing.
Active pallbearers were Jerry Anderson, Fred Atchison, Roy Atchison, Ronnie Atchison, David Atchison, Bobby Atchison, Danny Wynne and Len Roberts. Honorary pallbearers were Frank Harwell, Chris Harwell, Jon Harwell, Harold White, Jim White, Jason White, Mark Atchison, Chip Atchison, Robby Atchison, Ron Atchison, Jr., Chad Atchison, Joe Fleming, Matthew Bullock, Keith Townsend, Scott Townsend and Byron Faircloth.
